If you want to be able to say that you have mastered the art of stereonets, you need to be sure that you have studied how to prepare for and implement the data acquisition stage in addition to the mathematical procedures involved.
You will need to know what equipment you are going to need and how to read topographical and geological maps. This book contains four chapters on necessary general geological equipments and preparations and gives guidance on the field recognition of discontinuity bedding, cleavage and other structures that you may be called upon to map and process.
If you wish to be the master of the subect, then all you have to do is read this book from beginning to end, practice the worked example exercises, and then put it on your bookshelf where you can find it easily. That's all.
Dr Roberts has written this book in a friendly and personal style, with diagrams drawn by him and photographs taken by him rather than being prepared by a professional artist or taken from other sources.
This is arguably the most comprehensive book currently available on the subject because it covers the subject holistically; it tells the professional geologist or engineeer everything he/she needs to know to become effective and proficient in the subject.
